my background & specialties

my background

I’m a licensed clinical social worker and have been working in mental health with kids, teens and families for over a decade. I received my Master’s degree from NYU. I’ve worked in various school- and community-based settings offering clinical services to patients as young as age 4 and up through early adulthood. Among these is the Child Mind Institute in New York where I trained and practiced on their school-based clinical team. From there, I moved into telehealth working as a therapist, clinical supervisor and clinical trainer. In my current practice, I offer in person sessions out of my Pac Heights office and virtual appointments for all of California and New York.

Treatment overview

I offer evidence-based, targeted treatment. That means that over the first few weeks we will align around goals for therapy and utilize research-backed treatment modalities to make progress towards those goals. We will assess progress as we go with the aim of making enough progress towards treatment goals, and building up enough confidence and competence around managing any future symptoms that we are able to discontinue weekly sessions (with the knowledge that I am a phone call away if needed!)

I regularly utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, mindfulness and motivational interviewing. I will pull from additional modalities as it suits the needs of your child, such as DBT and ACT. Therapy with me is both rooted in evidence and individualized to your child’s specific needs.

what i treat

While I have experience with a wide range of symptom presentations, I am especially skilled in supporting young people through anxiety, trauma and grief. If you are a teen or young adult who is feelings overwhelmed by things you’re experiencing, you don’t have to navigate that alone. Whether you’ve experienced a recent loss or trauma, or you find yourself overwhelmed by day to day life, or you feel stuck and not yourself - there are things we can try that we know often help.

If you are a parent worried about your young child or teen, you also don’t have to navigate that alone. In addition to working with your child on increasing their ability to manage symptoms and feelings, I will work with you to be sure you feel confident supporting your child. You are a key ingredient to your child’s sustainable progress.

In addition to the clinical specialities mentioned above, I offer behavior intervention for kids who may be exhibiting big behaviors like tantrums or explosive outbursts. If this is you, let’s talk and I can tell you more about what this work looks like. We can work together to bring structure and consistency in a way that supports more appropriate and safe behaviors while also strengthening the parent-child relationship.
